Cherish every single precious moment with your little love muffins

I don’t know about you, but this long break from school really is such a blessing. Just the other day I heard a group of moms complaining about it, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes and cluck my tongue with pity. Not a day minute second goes by that I don’t reflect on how lucky I am to spend so much unlimited quality time with my love muffins.

Like this morning after my coffee kicked in and I was sitting in my bathroom taking care of business, Holden must have sensed my loneliness because he burst into the room and yelled surprise and scared the crap out of me. Literally!! I know some mommies relish their alone bathroom time because they get to read things like People magazine, but isn’t that kind of like spending time with strangers? I’d much rather spend my toilet time surrounded by loved ones, wouldn’t you?

And then later in the day I got to enjoy a luxurious trip to the grocery store with not one but both of my sweet angels. I think the highlight was when Zoey stopped me to have a passionate conversation about Lucky Charms and Cocoa Puffs. I love that she feels comfortable enough to be open and honest with me about her feelings (from the linoleum floor covered with snot and drool). Spending every single waking minute together means we get to make so many memories.

By 2pm, I couldn’t believe we only had three hours left until dinner. Three short hours to keep enjoying each other’s company. So I sat the kids on the couch next to each other with their iPads while I headed to the kitchen to replenish my drink. They say it’s important to drink eight glasses of water a day, so I just keep pouring and pouring. Before you know it, I’ve had eight glasses of a drink that’s mostly water.

And can I brag for just a minute? My kids are such sweethearts, they sat there on that couch playing their iPads for three straight hours and never once did they have an argument. They would have lasted even longer if their iPads didn’t run out of juice, at which point they realized their elbows were touching so they started having an adorable elbow war and giving each other very powerful love-taps. These uninterrupted never-ending hours together just bring us closer and closer.

By the time my husband got home, I felt guilty for having so much fun without him all day. I crawled into bed and let him experience some of the magic I got to experience while he was slaving away in the office. You’re welcome, honey.

You know, the kids are supposed to start summer activities next week, but maybe I’ll call to see if we can postpone them. I mean there are only 1488 more hours until school starts back up, and I’m going to cherish every single one of them.

Right there with you….counting down the minutes of my freedom until the 30th when ‘vacation’ starts….and we only have one iPad so that moment of conflict resolution starts right away.

Mine were playing Lego so nicely. Even sharing pieces by throwing them at each other. Then they watched TV for a few hours until they decided to practice the power of forceful negotiations over the remote. Sometimes the bigger brother wins, sometimes not. Hilarious piece!
